With Formula One on its weeks long summer siesta it’s easy to become a little despondent waiting for it to return. I like to keep myself busy watching old races and documentaries about racing in the “good old days” and so it was with much interest that I stumbled across this film, titled ‘Monaco, Race Of Kings’.

This 1956 BSA Gold Star TT Flat Track Racer was bought in ’56 by Harvey Farrell and raced at the world famous Daytona Beach course throughout 1957, it was bought from him by a private collector shortly thereafter and has remained untouched, in a small collection since then.
This 1976 Porsche 934/5 IMSA Racer, dubbed “El Salvador”, is a former world championship winning racer that’s seen action right around the world. Its first ever race outing was at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1976 where it took an impressive 2nd place (in class) in the capable hands of the Gelo Racing team headed by Georg Loos.
The 1982 Indianapolis 500 was unique for a number of reasons, it was the first year that ground-effect cars were to race around the infamous circuit, the 1st and 2nd place finishers were separated by just 0.16 seconds, which was the closest finish in Indy 500 history up until this point.
We decided to feature this 1972 Lancia Stratos Stradale today despite the fact that we just featured a Stratos last week. I sincerely doubt that any of you will complain about being inundated with a car that re-wrote the rule book for international rally competition and looked utterly spellbinding whilst doing it.
