“Truth In 24 II – Every Second Counts” is a film by Audi covering their involvement in the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours motor race. Lotus Goes Turbo is a 30 minute documentary covering the Lotus Formula One teams switch from naturally aspirated to turbo V6 engines in the 1983 season. It’s a fantastic little piece of history, seeing engineers designing a Formula One car on a drafting table with a pencil and slide rule is a reminder of just how brilliant these guys actually were.
The 1966 Shelby GT350H is one of the most historically interesting of the early Shelby Mustangs, it came about as a result of the Shelby company approaching the Hertz rental car company with the idea of producing between 50 and 100 specially built cars that would be rented out to enthusiasts for $17 a day.
This is an all-original 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Series I by Pinin Farina, only 14 of them were ever made with a further 16 being made by competing coachbuilder Scaglietti. The Mondial 500 was named after Alberto Ascari’s Formula 2 car that had dominated the previous years championship – winning 6 of the 8 races in 1953.
The Dainese M6 Two-Piece Race Suit is a piece of gear that serves two purposes, the upper jacket portion of the suit can be worn separately as a standard motorcycle jacket – then on days when you’re going to visit the local circuit you can zip-in the leather pants and ride with a full-body protective suit.
This is a 1953 Maserati A6GCS/53 Spyder by Fantuzzi – just 52 of them were built in 1953 by Maserati with the sole aim of challenging the likes of Ferrari, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz on some of the most iconic race tracks in Europe and around the world.
This stunningly beautiful 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R Formula 1 car was driven in anger by the likes of Juan Manuel Fangio, Hans Herrmann and Karl Kling – this essentially makes it about as close to royalty as a car can become.
The 1986 Porsche 962 was created as a replacement for the highly successful Porsche 956 – a car that had been dominant wherever it had raced including some major wins at the 24 Hours Le Mans and in the FIA series.
