It’s an event that officially start in 1967 and was originally called the “NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally”, the first event was held on the 31st of October and the start line was set up in Tijuana, Baja California. The winning team were driving a Meyers Manx VW Beetle based buggy and they completed the course in 27 hours 38 minutes.
