This fantastic footage was shot onboard a Jaguar D-Type being driven by Mike Hawthorn in 1956. It’s an great look at the Le Mans circuit as it was in 1956, it’s strange to see cyclists and civilian motorists out on the road – in fact Mike nearly wipes a couple of them out during the filming of this segment.

This is a 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta and it’s a very, very beautiful thing. Sadly they were only produced in very limited numbers (350 total) between 1963 and 1964 meaning they’re not the sort of thing you’re likely to see parked outside the local Hyatt.

What Is A Silodrome?

The traditional “Silodrome” was a carnival sideshow attraction also called the “Wall of Death." You may have seen them at county fairs – the vertical velodromes were originally built from old grain silos, leading to the name "silo-drome."
