Its first ever race outing was at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1976 where it took an impressive 2nd place (in class) in the capable hands of the Gelo Racing team headed by Georg Loos.
The 1982 Indianapolis 500 was unique for a number of reasons, it was the first year that ground-effect cars were to race around the infamous circuit, the 1st and 2nd place finishers were separated by just 0.16 seconds, which was the closest finish in Indy 500 history up until this point.
