Vintage Drag
I’m fairly sure that the image above captures the exact moment that the driver’s foot came off the gas pedal. It looks to me like they’re bicycle tires on the front end but I’m convinced that they can’t be. No one is that crazy.

Wernher Von Braun’s first lunar lander design had room for 25 astronauts, the extraordinary behemoth weighed in at 8,739,000 lbs, was 160 ft tall, 108 ft in diameter and could (theoretically) produce 390,043 ft-lbs of power.
Some people have a hard time understanding an obsession with old trucks, 4x4s and vans. They require a lot of work, they blow more smoke than an ageing French prostitute and they require more maintenance than a Jewish mother in-law.
I can’t get past the fantastic look on the face of this drag racer, it’s somewhere equidistant between horror and happiness.
Sonny Barger is, not even arguably, the most famous outlaw biker of all time. He was the main character in Hunter S. Thompson’s book “Hell’s Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs”, he also wrote a series of books, he’s been in a number of feature films and more recently appeared in the television series “Sons of Anarchy” (which is based on Hamlet, interestingly).
Angels From Hell is an entertaining film about a former motorcycle gang leader who returns home from the Vietnam War and sets about creating a new gang.
The BSA Lightning has always held a place in my heart, the bike just exudes timeless, vintage style. The 1969 model year BSA A65 Lightning was fitted with a fantastic 654cc OHV parallel twin capable of producing 53hp and a total weight of 179kgs.
These incredible suitcase stereos are each made by hand from an authentic vintage suitcase, this case is called “The Lady Bug” and it has 4 individual speakers, a 40W amplifier with volume, bass & treble control, a built in lithium battery good for 8+ hours of music and a jack that connects to any iPhone/iPad/MP3 player.
This undated WWII photograph shows a team of men unboxing some .303 ammunition, almost certainly to load it into the wing-guns of the Hawker Hurricane or Spitfire in the background.
The 1957 Daytona Beach Race was one of the truly classic early NASCAR events, the cars had to be showroom stock with only some minor safety additions. I think this sort of racing series would be incredible to see nowadays, totally stock sedans racing on circuits around the world would draw a lot of attention. Hell, I’d watch it.
The Hawker Hurricane is one of the stand-out fighters of the second world war, it played a pivotal role during the Battle of Britain and actually outperformed the Spitfire, accounting for 1,593 out of the 2,739 total downed German planes during the conflict.
Motorcycle sidecar racing is one of the most extreme motor-sport events I’ve ever encountered. I can’t imagine the guts it must take to be the guy hanging off the side into every turn, with total faith in the chap holding the handlebars.
