The Bell Moto-3 Blackout helmet is a new iteration of the much-loved Moto 3 design – a retro-styled motocross helmet that’s been built using modern materials and technology to ensure it passes modern safety standards. This offers riders the best of both worlds – 1970s styling with 2020 safety.
Bell first released the Moto 3 a few years ago to accompany the Bell Bullitt and the Bell Eliminator – the American company’s current retro-modern helmet line.
Many people who ride vintage and modern classic motorcycles like to buy helmets that represent the era the motorcycle originally came from – as a result of this retro helmets have become one of the fastest growing helmet genres in recent years.
When it came time to design a modern Moto 3 Bell stuck very close to the original shell design, it’s now made from a modern fibreglass composite to meet the latest DOT safety certifications. The helmet uses an impact absorbing EPS liner to take the brunt of any impact forces, and the chinbar is EPS lined as well for additional protection.
Bell build the Moto 3 in three shell sizes, this helps to ensure that you have the correct size and EPS liner thickness for your head size. The helmet also has a removable and washable anti-microbial terrycloth liner, and it comes with a secure 5 snap visor.
The Moto 3 has passed both the DOT (USA) and ECE (Europe) safety standards and it comes in sizes from XS up to 2XL – there’s a handy sizing chart on the website to ensure you get a good fit first time. As you may have guessed, this model is only available in flat black – hence its name.
