The Piloti 24H Le Mans driving shoes were developed to suit a very specific kind of person – a 24 Hours of Le Mans Classic driver who makes their way to the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe every two years to take part on one of the world’s premier vintage motorsport events.
Piloti make all of their shoes in Italy, piloti means driver in Italian, and for decades they’ve been making some of the best racing footwear in the world. Their product line now includes professional-grade racing boots, as well as more casual driving shoes, and high-end luxury driving shoes like the 24H Le Mans model you see here.
Each pair of Piloti 24H Le Mans driving shoes are made from carefully selected and subtly distressed Italian leather, with stitching detail around the toe and forefoot reminiscent of vintage race boots.
The company developed their Campione sole in-house to allow maximum pedal feel, while keeping the driver’s foot comfortable, as they spend much of their time sitting on their heels rather than on their soles. The shoes have patented Roll Control spherical heel cushions and support, with a polyurethane/EVA midsole for durability, toe spring for all-day comfort and everyday use on the streets, and sole tread pattern inspired by vintage racing tires.
The Piloti 24H Le Mans is a limited edition series, with a discreet French flag on the tongue, and Italian flag on the heel, and an embossed “24H” logo on the ankle strap. Sizes from 7.5 through to 13 are available, and you can choose any color you like, so long as it’s cognac.
We may not all be invited to drive in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Classic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still look the part. Now where did I leave the keys to that Ford GT40?
