On December the 20th 1992, Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna stepped out of a rented limousine with Emerson Fittipaldi at Firebird Raceway in Arizona. What happened next would send shockwaves around the world of motor racing, and leave many asking themselves the same question – would Ayrton Senna leave Formula 1?
This 30 minute documentary covers the happenings that day, interviewing people that were there and those that were involved. It’s an interesting historic “what if”, and it is a possibility that Senna would have taken a shot at the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans at some point after Formula 1 for the storied Triple Crown of Motorsport – typically considered to be an F1 win at Monaco (or an F1 World Championship), a win at the Indy 500, and a win at Le Mans.
The only driver to have taken the Triple Crown is Graham Hill, but drivers that came close by winning two of the three include Bruce McLaren, Juan Pablo Montoya, Emerson Fittipaldi, Phil Hill, A. J. Foyt, Tazio Nuvolari, Mario Andretti, and Jochen Rindt – this is company that Senna certainly belongs in.
