This photograph of the USS Akron under construction looks beautiful, the really captivating element of the picture has to be the men standing at the very tops of those extraordinary ladders attached to what look like horsedrawn carts.
Airships represent an alternative form of air transport that I secretly wish was far more commonplace. I’d happily spend 5 days cruising across the Atlantic on a luxurious cruise between London and New York and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
The Graf Zeppelin was a hydrogen airship built by Germany over the years 1926, 1927 and 1928, the German’s had just finished building the USS Los Angeles Airship which had been given to the United States as war reparations, and now the they wanted one of their own.
