The Zündapp company was founded in 1917 by two German chaps with the suitably German sounding names of Fritz Neumeyer and Friedrich Krupp, interestingly the company only made detonators for WWI and it wasn’t until after the war in 1919 that they started building motorcycles.
The company lasted right the way through until 1984 when it folded, every few years a rumour circulates that the company is going to be revived but as of yet, the Zündapp name remains on ice.
