The Surf Aviators by Vallon were designed to evoke the styling of classic skiing sunglasses from the ’70s and ’80s while incorporating modern materials and polarized category 3 lens that filter out 100% of all UVA and UVB rays up to 400 nm.

Vallon was founded to bring back the sunglasses of decades gone by, the company is rooted in Verbier, Switzerland and based in the Netherlands. Vallon makes their sunglasses from high-quality, hypoallergenic cellulose acetate frames – this is a renewable, non-petroleum based material that’s been used in sunglass and eyeglass frames since the 1950s by companies like Ray-Ban, Persol, and many others.

The Surf Aviators have tri acetate cellulose lenses that exceed the requirements for EN ISO 12312:2013 (CE) safety certification, these lenses are paired with tough cellulose acetate frames, and reliable metal hinges. For each pair of sunglasses that are sold Vallon pays to have 1 kilogram (approximately 2.2 lbs) of plastic waste removed from the environment and recycled.

The lens size of the Surf Aviators 59 mm and they have a bridge size of 17 mm and a frame width of 124 mm. The team at Vallon developed these sunglasses to be both tough and affordable, so they have a regular MSRP of €89 and they’re currently on special for €67 (that’s $105 USD and $79 USD respectively).
