The 1974 Indianapolis 500 was mentioned here on Silodrome last week, when we featured the car that would go on to win the race – the McLaren M16C.
After talking about it a little we decided to feature the whole race for those who might be interested, it’s actually a fascinating race with Johnny Rutherford (in his 11th attempt) winning the race from a starting position of 25th, the farthest back a winner has come since Fred Frame in 1932.
The full race is 1:27:16 long, it includes all the classic commentary and wondefully retro screen-graphics. If you have a little time to spare it’s worth hitting play, if only to listen to the engines.
