The Build is a new book by highly respected writer and motorcycle journalist Robert Hoekman Jr. It’s a detailed look into the minds of some of the most influential custom bike builders in the world today, including John Ryland (Classified Moto), Alan Stulberg (Revival Cycles), Jared Johnson (Holiday Customs), Jarrod DelPrado (DP Customs), and Max Hazan (Hazan Motorworks).
At 192 pages in length, The Build is characterised as a blueprint to building custom motorcycles – kind of like a bible for people like us. It includes explanations of the various custom motorcycle types, and then moves on to choosing a suitable donor bike, how to choose parts, and advice on painting and finishing. It contains a broad range of staggeringly beautiful images, and I can imagine that many will use it as a coffee table book, but it contains the potential for much more.
