Honda CB500 by Steel Bent Customs

Michael Mundy is the owner of Steel Bent Customs based out of Oldsmar, Florida. His garage has a track record for building bikes that are the distillation of modern café racers, I know that term is over used nowadays but it used to refer to bikes that were bought as stock, stripped back as much as possible to save weight and then modified only in ways that would increase performance. Very much like this Honda CB500.

The team at Steel Bent Customs pulled the CB500 to bits, rebuilt the engine, added a 4-into-1 exhaust system, loaded gun rear sets, rebuilt carburettors with 120 main jets, a custom fibreglass rear cowling, they relocated the battery, reinforced the frame to improve rigidity and handling, added adjustable rear shock absorbers and added an LED taillight.

The bike is now on it’s way to a new owner in Australia and I have no doubt that it’ll attract a huge amount of attention down under as it belts around on the right side of the road.
